armas de fogo o meu corpo não alcançarão (firearms my body will not reach), 2017

From the serigraphy applied on the bag for transport of merchandise purchased in Bamako, Mali, "Firearms my body will not reach" reproduces the design of a pillory, a major symbol of the brutality of slavery. At the bottom of the bag is written, manually with white and black pemba, a kind of sacred chalk used in many Candomblé rituals, an excerpt from the prayer to St. George.
